In 2005, a witty British college student had the idea to raise money for his college education by selling ad space pixel by pixel. The result was internet phenomenon The Million Dollar Home Page an internet phenomenon that made history one pixel at a time. Well, those brilliant Brits are at it again with is the first ever advertising billboard that stretches a whole continuous mile on the Internet. It’s called Mile Long Advertising and it is the brainchild of Joe Trinder and Sam Kendall who hope to generate funds to help pay for a wedding and also to support their favorite five charities (UNICEF , World Wildlife Fund, American Red Cross, The Royal Society for the prevention of Cruelty to Animals and The Institute for Creation Research). Talk about intelligent brand marketing. Aside from making history, the couple intends to set a new Guinness world record for the longest billboard of its type in history. Anyone can buy in, and the site is set to stay up for eternity. I can almost hear the Kaching-katching as we speak.
